Editing Course Navigation Menu Links

To edit the navigation links for a course

  1. Click "Settings" at the bottom of the navigation links for the course.
  2. You'll see a group of buttons across the top of the page. Click "Navigation". 
  3. Consider which links would be most helpful for your students and which would be a distraction.
  4. Drag and drop items that you want to hide into the lower list (screenshot).
  5. Be sure to save at the bottom of the page.


 Links in the list at the top of the page are still visible to students while those in the bottom list are only visible for instructors.

Once you've hidden the links that students don't need, it will look something like the image below. Notice how much less cluttered the student view looks without the extra shortcut pages. Students will still be able to access those materials but through links in the modules (make sure you leave the link for "Modules" available) rather than through the shortcuts.
