Automatic Feedback: Answers

Depending on your question type, you may be able to identify if a question can have multiple answers, or one answer only.

As you create your answer choices, identify the correct answer by assigning the grade percentage.  The default setting is none. If you have only one right answer, select 100%.

If you have multiple correct answers and wish to assign partial credit for each right answer, you will want to adjust the grade percentage for each correct answer so that combined, the total correct answers equal 100%. For example, if there are two correct answers, weigh each correct answer as 50%.

Automatic Feedback: Responses

Feedback typed in by the instructor is optional

Feedback TypeWhy Include it?Student ViewTiming
Individual Answer FeedbackThis can be a great place to provide students with hints if you enable multiple attempts.  This feedback will appear directly next to the specific answer option Depending on your Review settings for the quiz, students will be able to see the automatic feedback either immediately after the attempt, immediately after the quiz is submitted, and/or after the quiz is closed
Combined FeedbackThis is general feedback for full, partial, or incorrect answers.  This could be a great way to provide students will feedback or even links to resources to help them learn from the question.  This feedback will appear at the bottom of the specific question and answer choices.  Depending on your Review settings for the quiz, students will be able to see the automatic feedback either immediately after the attempt, immediately after the quiz is submitted, and/or after the quiz is closed

Multiple Tries

If you selected "Adaptive format" or "Interactive with multiple tries" in your Question Behaviors settings, you can also include hints, have the question clear the incorrect responses and/or show the number of correct responses.

Multiple Tries will appear for each question you create, but will not be activated unless you have adjusted your question behavior settings

Layout

You can move questions to appear earlier or later in your list with the four-way arrow (item C), have questions appear together on the same page (item B), or appear on individual pages (item B), or a combination depending on how you want your questions to display for your students

Change layout options on the left-hand side of the page using the page button, marked with a B, or the four-way arrow marked with a C

Moodle quiz also has Select Multiple Items and Repaginate features to enable you to adjust the number of questions to appear on each page quickly.  This is most helpful if you have many questions and do not wish to rearrange questions manually.
