Introduction
Every Contact Hour course section has a census date on the last day of the section, which can be found on the right side of the Faculty Overview page for your sections in StormTrac (Self Service). It can also be found in the Section List provided by the Student Records office at the beginning of the semester. It is important to remember that for compliance purposes accurate attendance must be maintained.
How to Enter Attendance
Login to StormTrac by going to Faculty & Staff Resources (https://www.davidsondavie.edu/faculty-and-staff-resources/) and choose StormTrac (Self-Service)
Select the Faculty tab.
Select a course section.
Select the “Attendance” tab. Some columns will not appear on the screen if the applicable date is not entered. Some sections will have one or more columns depending on the instructional method (Class, Lab, Clinical, or Work).
Select the relevant date and enter the number of contact hours and minutes in the relevant column. Enter the attendance in hour(s) and/or minutes (e.g., 1 to represent 1 hour or 1:30 to represent 1 hour and 30 minutes). Note that you can enter an optional comment for each student on this date. Students will not be able to view the comments. A max of 50 characters can be entered.
How to Certify Attendance
Once you have entered all hours for a contact hour section through the census date (last day of the course), you then need to certify the attendance.
Choose a section and select the “Census” tab to certify attendance for all students in the course section.
Mark students who have never attended by checking the “Never Attended” box next to the corresponding student name.
Select the blue “Certify” button to begin completing the certification process.
Select “Submit” to agree to the census statement.
A message will show that the census certification has completed successfully.
This certifies the attendance for the section. After the census roster has been certified, the date will no longer display on the Faculty Overview page.
