Understanding Accessibility Reports

The level of accessibility is conveyed in an accessibility report.  You can access your accessibility reports in two ways: directly in Moodle or on your Panorama Course Report Page.  For this tutorial, we are going to focus on understanding your accessibility reports directly in Moodle. However, you can also access your digital media content accessibility reports through the YuJa Panorama Platform by using your Davidson-Davie credentials

Locate your desired document and click on the accessibility icon to open the Alternative Formats menu.

A variety of Moodle content with different levels of accessibility denoted with either a green smiley face, a yellow caution triangle, a red stop sign, and a gray circle. The yellow triangle is outlined with an arrow pointing at it to represent clicking on the icon to access the accessibility report for that file.

At the top of your pop-up menu, click on the words Accessibility Report with your score.

On the right-hand side of your page, the report will open with the following options:

  1. Your score: this is generated based on a weighted model depending on the level of severity of issues your document may have

  2. Issues: the number of total issues, and the breakdown of those issues ranging from minor to severe, and a descriptive list of each issue.

  3. How to Fix: Depending on the issue, you will have options for “how to fix” tutorials that will open directly on the same page to guide you through how to resolve the issue

  4. Fix Issue:  YuJa Panorama is able to quickly fix some issues

  5. Upload a new Document: If you have a more accessible version of the document already, you can upload the new document with your report to replace your old file and run a new report.

Note: Keep in mind that if you upload a more accessible version directly into your Moodle course, if you copy this course later, the original, less accessible version will copy over instead of the new accessible version.

You will also have access to real time reports while you are creating your documents.  To access your real-time report, you can click on the accessibility gauge icon to see what issues you may need to address before you publish your content to your Moodle course.

Accessing Alternative Formats

Alternative Formats convert your documents into a variety of accessible documents available for instructors and students.  Remember that in the student view, this will be denoted with a blue circle. From the instructor view, you can disable alternative formats.
