How to Use a GoPro Hero 8

The GoPro HERO8 Black supports up to UHD 4K video resolutions, and time-lapse, up to 1080p240 slow motion, and super-slow-motion video. Still images can be captured in up to 12MP resolution in bursts of up to 30 images per second with the updated SuperPhoto with HDR support that helps reduce blur and enhance detail in low-light situations.

How to charge the camera

1. Ensure that the camera is turned off. 

2. Locate the USB-C port on the camera, which is located on the side. 

3. Connect one end of the USB-C cable to the camera's USB-C port. 

4. Plug the other end of the cable into a power source, such as a wall adapter or a computer's USB port. 

5. The camera will start charging automatically. You can check the charging status by turning on the camera or looking for the battery icon on the screen. 

6. Leave the camera connected to the power source until it is fully charged. The amount of time it takes to fully charge may vary depending on the power source and battery level. 

7. Once the camera is fully charged, disconnect the USB-C cable from both the camera and the power source. 


It's worth noting that you can also charge your GoPro Hero 8 camera using a compatible battery charger if you have one available. 

Simply remove the battery from the camera and insert it into the charger, then follow the instructions provided with the charger.



How to turn on the camera

1. Locate the power/mode button on the front of the camera. 

2. Press and hold the power/mode button until the camera powers on. You will see the GoPro logo appear on the camera's screen. 

3. Once the camera is powered on, you can release the power/mode button. 

4. The camera will then enter the default mode, which is usually the video recording mode. 



How to record video 

1. Power on the camera by pressing the power button located on the side of the camera. 

2. Make sure the camera is set to video mode. You can select the video mode by tapping on the video icon on the touchscreen display or by using the mode button. 

3. Position the camera as desired, ensuring it is pointing at the subject you want to record. 

4. Press the red shutter button located on the top of the camera to start recording. The camera will indicate that it is recording by displaying a red record icon on the touchscreen and on the front display, if enabled. 

5. To stop recording, simply press the red shutter button again. The camera will save the video file and return to standby mode. 

Remember to have sufficient storage space on your memory card and ensure the camera is fully charged before recording a video.



How to take pictures

 1. Power on the camera by pressing the Power/Mode button on the side of the camera. 

2. You can change the camera mode by tapping the screen or using the Mode button. Make sure the camera is set to the "Photo" mode. You should see a camera icon on the screen indicating the mode. 

3. To frame your shot, look through the front or back screen of the camera or use the GoPro App on your smartphone for a live preview. 

4. Once your desired subject is in the frame, press the Shutter/Select button (located on the top of the camera) to take a single photo. 

5. You'll hear a camera sound or see a visual indicator, confirming that the photo has been captured. 

6. To view the photo, you can either use the front or back screen of the camera, or transfer the files to your computer or smartphone. 

7. To power off the GoPro, simply press and hold the Power/Mode button until the camera turns off. 

Remember to have a fully charged battery and enough storage space on your SD card before you start taking pictures.



How to move files onto your computer

1. Connect your GoPro Hero 8 camera to your computer using a USB cable. Make sure the camera is turned on. 

2. On your computer, open the file explorer or finder. 

3. Locate the connected GoPro camera under "Devices" or "My Computer". 

4. Double-click to open the GoPro camera's folder. 

5. Look for the folder named "DCIM". This is where the camera stores all the recorded media files. 

6. Open the "DCIM" folder and you will see a list of folders with date or number labels. 

7. Open the latest folder or the one containing the media files you want to transfer. 

8. Select the files you want to move to your computer. You can either click and drag to select multiple files or hold down the "Ctrl" key (Windows) or "Command" key (Mac) while clicking on individual files to select them. 

9. Once the files are selected, right-click and choose "Copy" or press "Ctrl+C" (Windows) or "Command+C" (Mac) to copy the files. 

10. Navigate to the folder on your computer where you want to save the GoPro files. 

11. Right-click in the destination folder and choose "Paste" or press "Ctrl+V" (Windows) or "Command+V" (Mac) to paste the copied files. 

12. The selected GoPro files will now be transferred from the camera to your computer. The transfer process may take some time, depending on the file size and your computer's speed. 

13. Once the transfer is complete, you can disconnect your GoPro camera from the computer. Your GoPro Hero 8 camera files are now successfully moved to your computer.
