Add a Block To Your Dashboard or Course
Video Directions
Written Directions
- Visit moodle.davidsondavie.edu and Sign-In
- Visit your Dashboard or select a course from the My Courses page
- Click "Edit Mode" to toggle editing on
- Click the small grey tab "Open Block Drawer" on the right side of your screen
- Click "Add a Block"
- Choose a block from the list
- If your block is added to a location you do not like, you can use the arrow icon on the corner of the block to move it to another location. To do this click it and choose a location from the pop up window or click and drag it to a new location. In courses, blocks can only be placed in the Block Drawer.
Recommended Block Types
- Calendar - Display a handy calendar that will automatically highlight scheduled
- Upcoming Events - Similar to the calendar, but this block will just list key dates/activities with upcoming due dates in your course.
- Text - The text block allows you to write anything you would normally write in a text box. You can also use it to add images or HTML embeds. This block is very flexible, but some great uses are sharing your contact information, office hours, and/or links to student services.
- Latest News - Displays a quick summary list of your course Announcements forum.
- Quickmail - Use this tool to write and send emails to students and others in your course roster. The key benefit of using Quickmail over Gmail, is that your messages/history will always be saved with your course data.
- Grade Me (Coming June 15, 2023!) - This block is for instructor use and will show you all the outstanding submissions in your courses that need to be graded.
