Navigating Moodle 4.0 Faculty/Staff (Video: 35 min)

Moodle Quick Start Guide  

Moodle is Davidson-Davie Community College’s learning management system (LMS). Moodle shells (blank courses) are automatically created for all curriculum courses listed in StormTrac.

Access

Option 1: Go directly to Moodle (https://moodle.davidsondavie.edu/). 

Option 2: Go to the Davidson-Davie website>Faculty & Staff Resources>Moodle.

Login

Moodle login credentials are the same as your StormTrac username and password. If you are a new employee you may need to activate your StormTrac account. 

Course Navigation

Courses are located by clicking “My Courses” in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Here you will find the courses you teach, training/orientation that you’re enrolled in, course templates, and any courses that designate you as a teaching assistant.  

Course Editing 

Choose the course from your "My Courses" page that you want to work on. Once in the course, click the toggle button in the top right corner of your screen to turn on/off “Editing Mode”.   

Add Content

Within a topic/section, located by scrolling down in the middle of your course page, click on “Add an Activity or Resource.” Options include Assignment, File, Forum, Page, Quiz, URL, and many more. Choose an item, adjust the settings, and click Save to add to your course page. 

*Tip: Files/images can also be added to Moodle by dragging them from their saved location and dropping them into one of the topics/sections in your course. 

Participants (Students)

Students are automatically added to Moodle courses before the semester begins. During the drop/add period, the process is also automated (it runs twice a day, once in the late-morning and again in the afternoon). 

Grades 

The "Grades" button in your course menu will take you to your "Grader Report". Use the drop down menu above your Grader Report to switch to your View, Setup/Settings, or Export grades.
